All India Legal Aid Forum Felicitates Former Calcutta High Court Justice Subrata Talukdar

All India Legal Aid Forum organized a programme to felicitate Justice Subrata Talukdar, Hon’ble former Judge of Calcutta High Court on 29th July in Kolkata. Justice Talukdar served at Calcutta High Court since 2013. He retired on 3rd July this year.

The felicitation programme was graced by Mr. Naparajit Mukherjee, former DGP of West Bengal & present member of West Bengal Human Rights Commission; Mr. Santosh Bhagat, Ex RAW officer; Mr. Goutam Dey, Ex Director of ICCR Kolkata; Dr MP Rozario, Educationist; Prof. Anuradha Dasgupta, Principal, Charuchadra College. Many senior advocates of Calcutta High Court, namely, Mr. Kallol Guha hakurta, Mr Suranjan Dasgupta, Chandrasekhar Bag, Sanjay Bardhan, Kalyan Chakraborty, Swagata Dutta and dignitaries from other fields were present.

“Justice Talukdar will be remembered for his landmark judgements. He has been a people’s judge. I hope our state government will engage lordship’s expertise in other endeavours to serve people of the state”, said Mr. Joydeep Mukherjee, General Secretary of All India Legal Aid Forum & advocate of Supreme Court of India. As part of its regular activities All India Legal Aid Forum (AILAF) gives felicitation to former Judges of Supreme Court and High Courts to acknowledge their great services to the nation.

Justice Talukdar in his speech said, “We should be proud of our judiciary system at lower courts. Judges at subdivision and district courts work with minimum infrastructure”. His lordship also shared how he started as a journalist at the beginning of his career and then switched to legal arena follwing his family’s legacy in the field of law.
