SunoSunao, India’s first short audio app, organised a one-of-a-kind literary event in Kolkata on the ocassion of World Poetry Day on 19th March to celebrate the cultural heritage of the city. The event was organised with support of its community members from Kolkata, and brought together some of the eminent names from the literary circle of Kolkata.
Called as SunoSunao Baithak Khana, the event centered around short performances by National & International level poets, authors, singers and voice artists. The event also entailed a spellbounding performance by MIMEWALA, a contemporary mime group from Kolkata, who are working on an unique experimentation and improvisation of mime – presentation of poem through the language of mime.
Commenting on the event, Anindita Bose, prominent Author & Voiceover Artist said, “It’s great to see what SunoSunao is trying to do for the artists’ community in India. I was elated to learn about the application’s plans about building a creator community in India and giving them a proper platform to showcase their talent. Audio as a sector has a bright future in the coming decades, and this is the right time for audio creators to begin their journey.”
The event was graced by eminent guests like Mr. Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, popular actor Rajdeep Sarkar, Ms. Iryna Vikyrchak, Mr. Nicolas Facino, Ms. Rupa Majumdar, Dr. Amit Shankar Saha, Mr. Jayanta Roy Choudhary, Sahitya Academy awardee poet Gourob Chakraborty, RJ Purbasha, RJ Arvind, founder of Artists’ Circle Krishna Bhattacharya, Mr. Sumant Poddar, popular poet Sunil Bhandari, poet Sufia Khatoon, novelist Bob Dcosta, poet & film-maker Siddharth Shameek, poet & lawyer Sangeeta Bapuli, poet & artist Pragya Goel Gupta, author-professor Somrita Ganguly, publisher Partha Pratim Roy, Mr. Anirban Sarkar and the others.

The event took place at the significant historical building – Rani Rashmoni Palace, Janbazar.
